Bridada Catoe

Hello, I'm Bridada.

Bridada Catoe is a multidisciplinary visual artist originally from Cheraw, South Carolina, now based in the Midlands. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Clemson University and a Master of Fine Arts in Fashion from the Academy of Art University. Over more than a decade of professional practice, her work has grown across painting, printmaking, illustration, and photography — mediums that, each in their own way, ask something real of her.

Her work is rooted in identity, spirituality, and the observation of society — and the deeply personal intersections between all three. Working from lived experience and the emotions it surfaces, she creates from a place of honest inquiry rather than performance. Film photography, the medium she considers home, introduced her to the value of patience, craft, and presence — lessons she carries into everything she makes. Illustration, her most intimate practice, holds the deepest parts of herself: a vulnerability she guards carefully, and shares only when something in her insists on being released.

Authenticity is not simply a value Bridada holds — it is the lens through which she moves through the world. Each work she shares feels like a quiet act of sacrifice. Her hope is that encountering it sets something in motion for the viewer: a thought, a question, a pause long enough to begin the journey toward a fuller, truer acceptance of themselves.
